The short version
Wedding photography and wedding videography are booked with a 50% deposit, and the balance is due one week before the wedding. Events, virtual 360 tours and real estate work are paid in full at booking. If you cancel a wedding, the deposit is not refunded, because it is what holds your date; anything you have paid beyond the deposit is refunded. If you cancel any other booking more than seven days before the date, you get a full refund. If we cancel, you get everything back, whatever you booked. None of this affects your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which are set out near the end of this page.
How a booking is made
Bookings are made through our online booking calendar, which is run by Cal.com. You choose a package and a date and time, and payment is taken at that point through Stripe. Your card details are collected and processed by Stripe directly. We do not see them and we do not store them.
Every wedding photography package, every wedding videography package, all nine event coverage packages and all three virtual 360 tour tiers can be booked this way now. The Book now button on each package on our pricing page opens the calendar for that package specifically, with its price already set.
Real estate photography and portrait sessions are not sold through the calendar. Real estate is priced per item rather than per session, and graduation portraits are quoted per session rather than sold at a set price, so both are arranged through the enquiry form on our contact page, as are headshot, family and maternity sessions. Dennis confirms the date, the price and the payment with you directly. Once a quote is agreed, the payment and cancellation terms below still apply to it.
What each booking includes
Full prices for every package are on our pricing page. What follows is what you are paying for, and when you get it.
Wedding photography
Six packages, from one hour of coverage up to a full twelve-hour day. Every one of them includes a wedding consultation by phone, professionally edited digital images and an online gallery. Images are delivered within four weeks, at full resolution, on USB, and are never watermarked. You choose the images for the photo book. Coverage is by one photographer.
Wedding videography
Four packages. Each includes a highlight film cut to music and a full-length edit with all the audio, delivered on USB. We have not set a published turnaround for video the way we have for photography, so Dennis will confirm the delivery date with you when you book.
Events, parties and conferences
Nine packages, from one hour to five hours. Each includes one photographer, high-resolution edited images and an online gallery for viewing and downloading. A preview gallery is standard in the same week as the event, with the full edit delivered within four weeks. Additional hours are $250 each; they cannot be added at the checkout, so they are arranged with Dennis directly.
Real estate
Priced per item rather than per hour: image sets, floor plans, 3D showcase tours, property video, dusk images and virtual staging. Delivery is same day, guaranteed within 24 hours. All editing is included in the price, including the sixteen corrections applied to every image, and there are no hidden fees. Real estate work is paid up front.
Virtual 360 tours
Three tiers. Basic is delivered in three business days, Standard in four, and Premium in five to seven. Priority delivery within 48 hours is available for $200. Each tier includes an initial period of hosting, three, six or twelve months depending on the tier, after which hosting continues at a monthly rate.
Portraits
Headshots, family sessions and maternity sessions are priced per session. Graduation portraits are quoted per session rather than sold at a set price. We have not published a delivery timeframe for portrait work, so Dennis will confirm it with you when the session is booked.
Payment
Weddings: 50% deposit, balance one week before
Wedding photography and wedding videography are booked with a 50% deposit, taken at the time you book. The balance is due one week before the wedding date.
Weddings are usually booked nine to twelve months ahead. Holding the full fee for that long is not reasonable for either of us, and a deposit is closer to what most couples expect when booking that far out.
Everything else: paid in full at booking
Events, parties and conferences, virtual 360 tours and real estate work are paid in full at the time of booking. These are short-notice bookings, days to a few weeks out, so there is no long window between the payment and the shoot. Real estate has always been paid up front.
If you cancel
Weddings
The 50% deposit is not refundable. If you have already paid the balance and then cancel, the balance is refunded to you. The deposit is not.
The deposit is not a penalty for changing your mind. It is what the date costs to hold. Once your wedding date is booked it comes off the calendar and we turn away other enquiries for it, and a cancellation, particularly a late one, usually means that date cannot be filled again. Half the fee is our honest estimate of what that costs us, which is why the deposit is set at half rather than at the whole amount.
If your date is moving rather than being cancelled, tell us as early as you can. We have not settled on a fixed policy for postponements, and we would rather work out what is possible for your new date than treat a change of date as a cancellation.
Events, parties, conferences and virtual 360 tours
These are paid in full at booking, so the refund depends on how much notice we have:
- More than seven days before the booked date: full refund.
- Seven days or less before the booked date: no refund.
Real estate
The same seven-day rule applies, unless the shoot has already taken place. Once the photographs have been taken, the work has been done and the fee is not refundable on cancellation.
If we cancel
If we cancel your booking, for any reason and in any category, everything you have paid is refunded in full. That includes the wedding deposit.
We will also make reasonable efforts to refer you to another Brisbane photographer who is free on your date. That is offered in good faith rather than as a guarantee. We cannot control who else is available, so finding you a replacement is not something we can promise.
Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law
Nothing on this page excludes, restricts or modifies the consumer guarantees you have under the Australian Consumer Law. Those guarantees cannot be contracted out of. The terms above sit inside them; they do not replace them and they cannot override them.
Among other things, the law requires that services are supplied with due care and skill, are reasonably fit for the purpose you asked for, and are supplied within a reasonable time. If we fail to meet one of those guarantees you may be entitled to a remedy, which can include a refund, and that entitlement applies regardless of what the cancellation terms above say.
If something has gone wrong with your booking, tell us first. We would much rather put it right directly than have you go looking for a remedy elsewhere.
Refunds
Where a refund is due, it is returned to the payment method used for the booking, through Stripe. How long the money then takes to appear depends on your bank rather than on us.
